viewed by millions of people.
I had a vision after watching this: what if all of the people who understood
the importance of normal birth could unite under a common goal which was
broad enough to excite us all into collective action?
What if together, by using our networks and influence, we branded and
promoted empowered birth awareness together? We could have the
marketing of a huge corporation. We could make empowered birth viral!

You don't have to be special to change the world!
A few years ago I found Facebook, and I started making friends. I am
an insatiable birth junkie- so naturally, I sought out my favorite
birthworkers and started, "friending," people.
I was delighted when some of my, "empowered birth heroes,"
became my facebook friends; Suzanne Arms, Ina Mae Gaskin, Carla
Hartly, Gloria Lemay, Michel Odant, and more. I was amazed with
the power of the internet to connect me, an ordinary person, with
people who had such great influence in the world.

birthworkers and started, "friending," people.

Can this really work?
Consider this- some months ago I made a video just for fun about the benefits of having a home birth and I published it onto
two of my YouTube channels. This video, by me," nobody special," has received over 19,000 views. If I have the power to
touch thousands of people through my you tube channel, then my facebook contacts with their friends and networks could
surely inspire thousands, maybe millions of people to do something through their organizations, newsletters, blogs, radio
shows and social media sites to join us into taking action.
Imagine a world where every woman grows up knowing about birth as it could be—an ecstatic and empowering rite of
passage. I ask that if this vision inspires you, please, "Make it Your Own," by taking inspired action. You don't even need to
be special! With all of us taking united action during this week, there is no stopping us from instantly affecting the world.
